Songs for learning, inspiration and a Growth Mindset

3

Songs are a brilliant way of reinforcing the messages around learning with a Growth Mindset. They also help to create a positive atmosphere. Here are some links and videos to help get you singing. Please add your favourites as comments too.

We currently sing quite a few songs that have been produced by Fischy Music http://www.fischy.com . Currently they are offering a free 30 day trial of their online resource and we have signed up to that too.

We also use Singup and Out of the Ark resources regularly.  The Out of the Ark songbook, ‘All about me,’ has a great song called ‘The Brain,’ which the children will be learning.

Youtube also is a great site for tracking down brilliant songs to inspire us. Here are a few of our favourites.

What I am! Will.I.Am Lyrics

Don’t Give up. Bruno Mars (lyrics)

The Climb. Miley Cyrus (lyrics)

You a star – one from Fischy Music (lyrics)

Wonderful World – another song from Fischy Music (lyrics)

Believe – with signing from Sing up

Everything’s controlled by the brain.

Power of Yet – Sesame Street: Janelle Monae

Believe in Yourself – Diane Ross

Here are the lyrics –
Oh you can be what you want to be,
See what you want to see,
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.

Go where you want to go,
Do what you want to do
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.

Some folks try to tell you there are things you shouldn’t do
You’re not strong enough or smart enough at all,
But what seems right to them quite often
Might be wrong for you,
So be sure you try to climb
Before you get too scared you fall.

Oh, you can be what you want to be,
Learn what you want to learn,
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.

Try what you need to try,
No one should question why,
Believe in yourself,
Believe in yourself.

Folks may say you’re different,
That you’ve gone and lost your senses,
But the world is yours to walk in,
Go ahead and leap the fences.

And you’ll see,
Believe in yourself
And the world belongs to you and me
